WEISUN FAQ: Industrial Oven Selection and Maintenance

Common questions about industrial ovens
#

WEISUN’s official FAQ covers oven classification, construction, sizing, safety, temperature control, insulation, first use, load effects, and maintenance. The answers below are summaries; the full official FAQ has more detail.

1. How are industrial ovens classified?
#

Ovens are selected by temperature, pressure, control method, and size:

  • Temperature: Low-temperature below 200°C; high-temperature 200–500°C; specialized above 500°C.
  • Pressure: Pressurised oven with inert gas; atmospheric oven with hot-air circulation; negative-pressure (vacuum) oven with a vacuum pump.
  • Control: Batch ovens (precision, cart-type, clean room, oxygen-free, environmental aging), programmable semi-automated ovens (tunnel, automatic door with AGV/RGV/MGV, multi-recipe), and fully automated ovens (AGV, EFEM, robot, loader/unloader).
  • Size: Defined by internal chamber space. WEISUN’s smallest standard model is W300 × D300 × H300 mm.

2. How is an industrial oven composed?
#

The main systems are:

  • Structure: Outer casing (powder coating or stainless steel), horizontal or vertical airflow, and optional dust-free filtration, oxygen-free gas piping, or vacuum piping.
  • Heating: Insulation thickness and material, plus heaters such as bare wire, stainless-steel tubular, infrared lamp, superheated steam, or hot oil.
  • Cooling: Manual or automatic dampers, forced intake/exhaust, or water-cooled heat exchange.
  • Control and safety: Traditional control, programmable software, HMI, multi-stage temperature control, oxygen detection, CIM, Ethernet, SECS/GEM; plus overload, over-temperature, heater over-current, motor over-current, alarm, reverse prevention, and door safety switches.

3. How should the internal size be chosen for good temperature uniformity?
#

Allow enough space for loading and unloading, and leave a buffer area so airflow is not blocked by the product. WEISUN’s official FAQ states that its oven design uses a 7–10 cm airflow buffer zone to support uniform temperature and usability.

4. Do drying equipment and industrial ovens have explosion-proof features?
#

Yes, especially when flammable gases or vapours are present. Measures can include explosion-proof structural design, explosion-proof electrical components, static discharge control, ventilation, and explosion-proof doors. The required protection depends on the process and local regulations.

5. What heater types are available?
#

Common types are resistance heaters, hot-air circulation systems, radiant heaters, steam heaters, and gas heaters. Selection depends on the product, temperature, atmosphere, and available utilities.

6. What cooling methods are available?
#

Common methods are natural cooling, forced cooling, water cooling, air cooling, and rapid cooling with a separate cooling chamber. Selection depends on product tolerance, energy use, and production schedule.

WEISUN’s Chinese FAQ also lists indicative no-load cooling rates for different designs, from about 2.5°C/min with natural intake/exhaust dampers to about 5.8°C/min with automatic dampers, a chiller, and forced air. Interlayer cooling used for oxygen-free ovens is slower. Confirm the applicable rate for the specific model.

7. What is the normal chamber pressure for an oxygen-free oven?
#

The chamber is normally kept at positive pressure so outside air cannot enter. The exact value depends on the equipment design and process; refer to the operation manual or ask WEISUN for the specific model.

8. What safety features are available?
#

WEISUN’s FAQ describes over-temperature protection (with multiple detection signals), reverse prevention for three-phase power, airflow pressure detection, door safety switches, and over-current/overload protection. It recommends selecting safety features according to the actual risk and budget.

9. How should temperature control be selected?
#

  • ON/OFF contact control: Low cost but limited accuracy; rarely used in modern industrial ovens.
  • PID + SSR: Common, accurate, and cost-effective.
  • PID + SCR: Higher accuracy through phase control; higher cost; suitable for precision processes.

10. What insulation materials are used?
#

WEISUN’s FAQ compares PU foam (below 100°C), glass wool (about 300°C), rock wool (about 590°C), and ceramic cotton (about 1260°C). WEISUN states that it uses rock wool instead of glass wool to avoid skin irritation during installation.

11. What should be checked before first use?
#

  • Confirm the electrical specification on the nameplate and connect a proper ground.
  • Use the oven only for the specified process; do not bake flammable or explosive items.
  • Do not place objects on top of the oven or block vents.
  • Keep the area around exhausts, valves, and pressure-relief devices clear.
  • Install on a level, well-ventilated, low-dust floor, away from moisture, flammable/corrosive gases, and combustibles.
  • Check fan rotation direction before heating.
  • Do not change controller or timer parameters unless authorised.
  • Do not open the door at high temperature without protection.

12. Does product load affect temperature uniformity?
#

Yes. A crowded chamber can restrict airflow and create local temperature differences, and the oven may take longer to recover after loading. WEISUN recommends arranging trays properly, controlling load, and checking the temperature and airflow systems regularly.

13. What maintenance is required?
#

WEISUN’s FAQ lists:

  • Daily: Visual and sound check for abnormal dirt or noise.
  • Weekly: Inspect power cords and air lines for damage or leakage.
  • Monthly: Check bolts, nuts, and the emergency stop.
  • Quarterly: Test over-temperature protection, no-fuse breakers, sensors, exhaust/intake lines, HEPA filters, fan motors, and door seals.

Maintenance must be performed with the main power off and the chamber at a safe temperature.

14. Can WEISUN repair other brands of drying equipment?
#

Yes. WEISUN states that it has experienced technicians and equipment to repair various brands of drying equipment and can also upgrade control systems, safety, and energy efficiency.

15. Is direct sales possible without an agent?
#

WEISUN’s FAQ states that direct sales may apply in specific regions or situations, such as large orders or specific customer requirements. The applicable sales model depends on regional strategy; contact WEISUN for the current arrangement.
